Why was Halloween invented for children and adults to have candy?

Halloween
Candy

I think that it is mainly invented for children because I have herd that when older kids go trick or treating they get all the rotten and spoiled candy. My grandpa use to save a jar of candy from last years christmas and give it out to older kids.

Also another reason why I think children get the candy then the adults is because children are too scared to do the big things like go to haunted houses.

The reason why they probably invented Halloween for children and adults to have candy though is because the parents prabably went trick or treating with their child and they probably didn't think of haunted houses

Hope this helped!!!!! :)

This is an opinion based on no research... Actually, Hallowe'en is a remnant of pagan festivals of the dead. The Celts believed that the end of October (and the time between the end of summer and beginning of winter) was when the veil between the living and dead was the thinnest. One way to placate the spirits is by offering them food (a tradition carried out in other cultures, like Mexico's Day of the Dead), and a way to escape their attention is by dressing up like a ghoul yourself.
