February has 28 days but on a leap year (every four years) it has 29. this little poem might help you to remember; 30 days has September, April, June and November , All the rest have 31 except for February - 28 alone.

Apart from Leap years once in four, when February has one day more Our calendar in the west, has changed over the years. The present one is call the Gregorian calender. Prior to this the Julian calendar was used. Different months have been added over time by people in power in a vain attempt to be remembered. Caesar Augustus and Julius Caesar are notable in this. Because the length of the year is not exactly divisible by the days of the year, something had to be done to keep the calendar in tune with the real world. Hence an extra day in a leap year.
