Sergey Chernyshev: I wanted to be Optimus, my father said, while I reach Bumblebee

In October last year, he became the first Olympic champion in break dance. Despite the fact that so far he only has gold at the Youth Games, he is confident that soon b-fights from all over the world will be given the opportunity to measure their strength at the adult Olympics.

Sergey Chernyshev spoke about preparation for the Olympic Games and why it is important for him to do breakdancing at a professional level.

- You have already told how the Olympics took place, you can tell in more detail how the preparation process took place ?

- I probably prepared more mentally. I flew to the States, recharged. Training before the Olympics was no different from my usual training, I have always trained in this mode.

- When you go out on the dance floor, what helps you to get ready?

- Realizing why I'm here.

- What is your father's role as a coach?

- He sets goals, sets direction, controls.

- Do you come up with a program for the performance yourself or do you consult with your father?

- I don't have a program. In principle, there is no program in breaking. But everything I show has his hand.

- What do you like more: jams or battles?

- Battles.

- Who was your reference point in childhood? There are people from the dance culture, on whose work you grew up?

- Specifically from the dancers, I don't remember, to be honest, there are many. When I was 11 years old, I was a fan with Hong ten (bboy Hong 10). I also always liked the Americans, I think this is the kind of breaking it should be.

- Now break dance is included in the program of only the Youth Olympic Games, you assume that it will appear on adults in the near future Games, for example in 2024 in Paris?

- I admit, with a probability of 99 percent.

- It may happen that at the adult Olympics for place in the national team will you compete with your father?

- No ( laughs ). He hasn't danced since about 2001.

- Why was it important for you specifically that break dance became an Olympic sport?

- This is definitely a step forward for our culture, and therefore for me.

- You love break dance, you could do it for your pleasure, why is it so important for you to do it on a professional level? b>

- Because I'm not selfish to do it for my own pleasure.

- You are an Olympic champion, but you are twice participated in the show Dancing and both times it did not work out very well. Did it say that the judges are more choreographers than athletes?

- I love TV, I always wanted to get there, then I saw the opportunity in this project. With Dances everything, they remained in 2017. Now I have enough other options.

- Why Bumblebee?

- When was small, wanted to be Optimus, my father said, I can only hold out for Bumblebee for now ( smiles ) And somehow it got fixed, everyone remembered, now Optimus is not needed, Bumblebee is cooler ( smiles ).
