Running to Moscow: which races to start preparing for?

The ice is melting between us, and we are starting to prepare for the main running starts of this season. In order not to miss anything, our editors, together with the Moscow Marathon, have drawn up a schedule of current races for residents of the capital.

Race April

When: April 9
Where will it take place: on the territory of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex
Distance: 5 km

The beginning of the running season will launch the most massive spring start in Moscow. In 2013, 784 people took part in this race, after five years already 6,000 runners will start. The rapid growth of the project is driving important changes. This year the competition has changed its name (former name - First Race). For the first time, April will be held as an independent running event with its own concept and corporate identity. Ambassadors of the race will come to support the runners and run 5 km with them: tennis player and public figure Vera Zvonareva, as well as famous TV presenter and journalist Masha Komandnaya.

Moscow half marathon

When: May 21
Where: Moscow (similar races throughout Russia - St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Sochi, Rostov -on-Don, Kazan, Samara, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Vladivostok)
Distance: 21.1 km, 10 km, 5 km, 3 km

Single day of half marathons when all of Russia runs, it will be historic for the running movement. The route of the Moscow Half Marathon, 21.1 km long, is laid in one circle along the embankments of the Moskva River. This year, the race will have three new distances - 10 km, 5 km and 3 km.

Colorful race

When: June 11
Where: around the Luzhniki Olympic Complex along Novoluzhnetskiy proyezd and Luzhnetskaya embankment
Distance: 5 km

9000 people will take part in it, for whom the organizers have prepared four multi-colored zones with tons of paint. Hundreds of fancy dresses, happy faces and an endless charge of energy await every participant at the most memorable start of the season.

Night Run

When: July 5
Where: Frunzenskaya and Prechistenskaya embankments
Distance: 10 km

The only one in Moscow starting after sunset. In 2017, it will be held for the fifth time! 1244 people took part in the first Night Run. The runners themselves will become an adornment of the night city, illuminating with flashlights and smiles the roads along which car headlights glide on other days. The stream of moving lights created by running people can rightfully be called one of the most beautiful views of Moscow at night.

Promsvyazbank Moscow Marathon

When: September 24
Where: Moscow
Distances: 42.2 km and 10 km and corporate relay

2017 is a jubilee year for the organizers of Promsvyazbank of the Moscow Marathon. The first race in 2013 was attended by about 6,000 people, and this year thisthe figure will exceed 30,000! For the first time, an online broadcast of the marathon will be organized for fans from all over the world. On the eve of the main start - September 22 and 23 - the largest exhibition of sporting goods and services in Russia will take place. The EXPO will be attended by the world's leading brands, leaders of the domestic running industry, competition organizers, as well as representatives of charitable foundations.
