Red Bull Super 100: how to sprint without throwing your skis back?

This weekend, despite the fact that the thermometer showed a few degrees below zero, it was really hot in Kazan. On Sunday, March 17, the Red Bull Super 100 super sprint ski race brought together 79 athletes from all over Russia. Among them were both amateurs and professionals from 14 to 55 years old. Even famous athletes, champions and record holders have tried themselves in a hundred. We talked to different participants and learned their main motivation and secrets of preparing for the distance.

Female approach

Name: Guzel Galieva
Age: 39 years old
City: Kazan
Level: amateur
Personal life hack: follow the starts of professional athletes, learn techniques and try to ride for fun
Sports goal: increase the distance

Guzel loves skiing since childhood. Dad taught her to this sport. By the way, he came to support his daughter, and also on skis. She has already taken part in competitions among colleagues at the plant several times, but she did not manage to take prizes. This became the main motivation for an active sports life. After seeing the announcement of the Red Bull Super 100, I decided to register and try my hand. Guzel did not expect to win, but believes that the main thing is not to fall and not hit the dirt with her face.

Name: Alexey Petukhov
Age: 35 years old
City: Murmansk
Experience: Honored Master of Sports of Russia, bronze medalist of the 2010 Olympic Games in team sprint, world champion in 2013
Personal life hack: it is very important to determine a comfortable position at the start. This can give you a great advantage in the race.
Sports goal: to help the development of sports and to help the Russian Federation only gain momentum in this area. It's too late to compete at the level of the world championships and the Olympic Games, so I run to the spring marathons, and then we'll see.

A friend from the Fischer team, which he represents, invited Alexei to the race. He wanted to support his colleagues and try his hand at a hundred. However, it was not possible to get to the final stage. Perhaps fatigue after the 30 km race, which was the day before, and the flight.
