The running season is starting very soon. And this year in the capital, it begins for the first time in winter. What awaits us at the main starts in Moscow and St. Petersburg? Find out right now with the Running Community's annual calendar of events.

Where? Athletics arena of NRU MGSU
Distance: from 60 to 3000 meters
This time the season opens unconventionally. We start with an indoor race. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at sprint and medium distances. In addition to the individual start, you can assemble a team and take part in the relay.

April Run
When? April 5
Where? The Luzhniki Olympic Complex
Distance: 5 km
In early April, thousands of runners will meet in Luzhniki at the annual opening of the season in Moscow. You too have the chance to test yourself at short distances after winter training.
The route of the race will pass around the complex along the Alley of Glory, Novoluzhnetskiy proyezd and Luzhnetskaya embankment. Those who decide to go to the start will delight the city with beautiful views of Moscow City, Vorobyovskaya Embankment and the Moscow State University building.

Cross Fast Dog
When? April 18 and October 3
Where? Bitsevsky Forest Park
Distance: 2 km
This is a small charity run with pets in support of the Gift of Fate Foundation. He helps shelter dogs and cats find a home and promotes the care of pets, regardless of their species, breed or other characteristics.
Participation in the race is possible from 18 years old. A prerequisite is a race with one dog on a leash.

Cross Fox Mountain
When? April 19 and October 4
Where? Bitsevsky Forest Park
Distance: from 2 to 8 km
If with the onset of spring you also wake up with an active weekend getaway, the classic Fox Gora cross is the perfect option for your outdoor weekend. Picturesque landscapes, natural terrain and separate starts for different age groups. The opportunity to participate will appear twice this year - in April and October.

Moscow Half Marathon
When? May 31
Where? Luzhniki Olympic Complex
Distance: 21.1 and 5 km
Step (or even run) into summer by taking part in one of the country's premier races on the last day of spring - why not? The half marathon route runs in one circle along the embankments of the capital. Participants will run past the Kremlin, the Crimean Bridge, a skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya embankment, St. Basil's Cathedral and other sights of Moscow. The main thing is to remember that you need to correctly assess your capabilities and calculate your strength throughout the entire distance.
Registration requires a medical certificate and a paid registration fee.

Colorful race
When? June 14
Where? Luzhniki Olympic Complex
Distance: 5 km
This is perhaps the brightest and most colorful start, in which participation is more valuable than the result. Prepare costumes and invite friends to enjoy the atmosphere of the sports event and take memorable photos. You have to run five kilometers through four zones, where the organizers will shower you with colorful paints.

SPB Half Marathon Northern Capital
When? 9 August
Where? Palace Square
Distance: 21.1 and 10 km
Traditionally in summer, runners gather at the start of the most massive half marathon in the center northern capitalss.
The route of the race runs in one circle through the historical center of St. Petersburg: past the Kazan Cathedral, the Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral and other attractions. One of the most unusual city tours awaits you.

Luzhniki Half Marathon

Distance: 21.1 km
In mid-August, a real sports event will take place on the capital's embankments a celebration with food court, music and other entertainment. Krylatsky trail

Where? Krylatsky hills park
Distance: 4 and 8 km
Bored with traditional races and want something more extreme? Pay attention to the Krylatsky trail. We think this is ideal for joggers looking to diversify their experience.
The starting route passes through the ground and asphalt sections with many ascents and descents. An unforgettable view from the hill is a nice addition.
