On September 22, the IRONSTAR international triathlon competition was held in Sochi again. For the eighth time the resort "Imeretinsky" hosted triathletes and for the third time - the participants of the legendary "iron" triathlon (3.86 km swimming + 180 km cycling + 42.195 km running).

Sergey became the winner of the “iron” distance Zelenov, who set the track record - 9 hours 21 minutes 56 seconds.

Sergey Zelenov: “I am happy to return to triathlon after a long break. For 6 months, I lost 25 kilograms, I was gradually walking towards the goal and, to be honest, I did not hope to win - I started with very strong guys. But, apparently, today I was lucky, luck smiled. The race was very hard, but I tried and did everything I could. I will move on! ”

Yulia Polevaya showed the best result for women - 11: 15.54.

Yulia Polevaya: “ It was not easy, but my preparation allowed me to go the distance at my peak, despite the fact that I'm a mom. I can confidently advise girls to go in for triathlon - this sport keeps you in good shape and makes your body beautiful. ”

At the Olympic distance, the fight was in seconds. The winner of the “Olympics” Ilya Slepov was only 5 seconds ahead of the nearest pursuer - Anton Chuchko. Ilya's result is 02: 05.09.

In total, almost 1,500 people from the IRONSTAR OLYMPIC & 226 SOCHI 2018 12 countries: Russia, CIS countries and neighboring countries, as well as from Germany, Czech Republic and even Australia. Among them is one of the most experienced “Ironmen” in Europe and the strongest triathlete of the Czech Republic Petr Vabrousek , for whom the 192nd start at the “iron” distance took place in Sochi. Peter took first place in his age category (45-49 years old), covering the distance in 9 hours 45 minutes and 41 seconds.

This time a record number of relay teams took part in the IRONSTAR competitions - more than 100! Among them is the team of Alena Zavarzina, the bronze medalist of the 2014 Olympic Games in snowboarding. Alena performed a cycle stage in the relay and after the finish announced that she would like to try herself in triathlon as an individual participant.

Alena Zavarzina: Someday I will complete the distance in triathlon. One bicycle race was not enough for me, I wanted more. I had time to look around, at the finish I rode standing. I will start to prepare slowly and go through the entire Olympic distance, and then maybe half (“ semi-iron” distance - 1.93 km swimming, 90 km cycling, 21.1 km running. - Approx. IRONSTAR ) .

In the last weekend of September in Sochi, not only triathletes had a rich program. On the eve of the triathlon competition, races for girls and children were held.

Within the framework of cooperation, IRONSTAR and the Love Syndrome BF raised funds from STARKIDS children's races for swimming groups for children with Down syndrome in the regions. For the entire 2018 season, we managed to collect more than 1,200,000 rubles. Some of these funds were collected by a team of Athletes for the benefit of IRONSTAR employees headed by Andrey Kavun .

Plans for the next season: we will open Kaliningrad
