5 basic stretching exercises from Alina Balashova

Neglecting to warm up before playing sports is a pretty dangerous thing. Even the shortest stretch can prepare the body for the upcoming stress. During the morning training session at Quiksilver New Star Camp we met with a pro rider, blogger and amazing Roxy girl Alina Balashova .

In our selection you will find some simple basic warm-up exercises that warm up the muscles and prepare joints and ligaments for skiing in the mountains. Remember that exercising regularly will significantly reduce the risk of injury.

Neck stretching

  • Place your right hand on the back of the head, closer to the crown;
  • Pressing with your hand, tilt your head forward, and then turn it to the right, trying to touch the right shoulder.

Shoulder stretch joint

  • Stand up straight with feet shoulder-width apart, or sit in a comfortable position for you and straighten your back (as in the photo);
  • Straighten your left arm and extend it in front of you. With your right hand, press your left elbow to your chest;
  • Recommended time: 10-15 seconds per hand.

Tip: try to bring your straightened right arm to your left shoulder as much as possible, and vice versa, your straightened left arm to your right.

Alternative shoulder stretch

  • Place your left elbow behind your head and support it with your right hand. Try not to tilt your head forward. Press gently with your right palm on your elbow and bring it as far away from you as possible;
  • Hold this position for 10 seconds;
  • Exercise on the other hand.

Exercise for quads stretch

  • Stand up straight;
  • Bend your left knee and hold it with your left hand;
  • Pull your left foot towards your buttocks so that you feel the tension;
  • Hold this position for 10 seconds;
  • Exercise on the other leg.

Stretching lying on the back

  • Lie on your back;
  • Bend one leg and pull it in the opposite direction for it;
  • Wrap your hand over your knee;
  • Stretch out your hand and look in its direction;
  • Hold this position for 10 seconds;
  • Exercise on the other hand.
